Native or cross-platform: Flutter and React Native

This is one of the first decisions in any app project, and it affects cost, timeline and who can maintain the app later. Here is how we weigh the options.

Flutter

One codebase for iOS and Android with its own rendering engine, so the interface looks the same on both. Strong for custom-designed interfaces and consistent performance. Best for most new business and consumer apps.

React Native

One codebase using native interface components, with a large JavaScript ecosystem. A good fit when your team already works in React on the web and wants to share skills or some logic between web and mobile.

Native iOS and Android

Separate apps in Swift and Kotlin. Highest ceiling for performance and access to new platform features on day one, at roughly the cost of building and maintaining two apps. Worth it for hardware-heavy or highly specialised apps.

Our process from discovery to store launch

1. Discovery

Who uses the app, what they need to do, which systems it connects to and what success looks like. Deliverable: scope, feature priorities and an estimate.

2. UX prototype

Clickable prototype of the main flows, tested on real phones with real users. Deliverable: approved screens in English and, where needed, Arabic.

3. Build

App, API and admin panel developed in short cycles with test builds you install through TestFlight or an internal testing track. Deliverable: working builds every cycle.

4. Testing

Testing across a range of devices and OS versions, poor-connectivity scenarios and right-to-left layouts. Deliverable: a release candidate and a test report.

5. Store launch

Store listings, privacy disclosures, screenshots and submission, then monitoring of crash reports in the first weeks after release.

UAE-specific features

Arabic and right-to-left

Bilingual interfaces with proper RTL layout, Arabic typography and language switching that remembers the user’s choice, designed in from the first wireframe.

Local payments

Card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and other options supported by the payment gateway you contract with, using the gateway’s mobile SDK so card details never touch your servers.

Push notifications and offline mode

Targeted notifications for order status, bookings and reminders, plus offline capture for field staff working in warehouses, basements or remote sites, with sync and conflict handling when they reconnect.

Personal data handled properly

Apps that collect personal data fall under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law. We ask only for the permissions the app needs, explain why in the store disclosures and store data securely on the device and server.

Backend, APIs and admin panels

Almost every business app needs a server behind it: an API the app talks to, a database, and an admin panel where your team manages content, users, orders or jobs. Underestimating this part is one of the most common reasons app budgets overrun, so we scope it alongside the app from day one.

If you already run an ERP, CRM or booking system, the app should usually read from and write to it rather than keeping a separate copy of the data. We build that integration layer so stock, prices, customer records and orders stay consistent between the app, your website and your back office.

Publishing, support and what affects cost

Store review is part of the timeline, not an afterthought. Both Apple and Google review apps against their guidelines, and rejections usually come from incomplete privacy disclosures, unclear login requirements for reviewers or features that do not work as described. We prepare for those before submission.

Cost is driven mainly by the number of screens and roles, the backend and admin panel, integrations, bilingual support, offline behaviour and the number of platforms. After launch, budget for annual OS compatibility work and ongoing improvements, because an app that is not maintained degrades quickly.
